Research Assistants – Multimodal Hong Kong
We are seeking to hire two Research Assistants (initially part-time) from September 2024. You will be attached to the GRF-granted project:: Multimodal Hong Kong: Documenting Sensory Cultural Heritage through Soundscape and Smellscape, led by Dr PerMagnus Lindborg. Research Assistant (database & website)

- Assist in the design of MMHK database, containing audio, video, images, text, and other data;
- Organise database materials on local and remote storage (e.g. SQL);
- Streamline web access to MMHK database from our website (which currently runs WordPress);
- Assist in UX testing of MMHK website and database; and
- Assist in research project administrative tasks (e.g. preparing written and oral reports).
Requirements
- Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Skills and documented experience in database management (e.g. SQL, Python, R) is required.
- Skills in dynamic website development (e.g. Javascript, PHP, HTML5) is a strong plus.
- Skills in handling audiovideo media formats is a plus.

- Assist in literature reviews in the fields of soundscape, smellscape, and intangible heritage;
- Organise and conduct interviews with research participants and other stakeholders;
- Transcribe recordings of field interviews and translate to English;
- Assist in content analysis of interviews;
- Assist in the collection of field data (sensory walks, interviews/surveys, audiovisual recordings, air sampling); and
- Assist in the management of the administration of the research project (e.g. preparing written and oral reports).
Requirements
- Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Cantonese is required;
- Skills in computer-assisted content analysis, e.g. R Studio is a plus.
- Experience in field data collection (e.g. sensewalking, interviews/surveys, audio-visual recordings, air sampling) is a plus.
- Good level of spoken Putonghua is a plus;
